Absolutely, yes. You will be perfectly capable of driving before and after each session. IG-SRT does not involve any sedatives, IV medications, or anesthesia that could impair your ability to drive. You’ll be as alert and steady as you are on a normal day. Many of our patients drive themselves to every appointment, even those in their senior years, without any trouble. The treatment itself is painless and has no effect on your reflexes or vision. The only scenario where driving might be momentarily uncomfortable is if, say, you had a lesion near the eye and we needed to tape an eye shield – but even then, we’d remove it after treatment and your vision would be back to normal. So there’s no restriction on driving. In fact, being able to drive oneself is part of maintaining normalcy during treatment. If you have any unrelated medical condition that affects driving (unrelated to IG-SRT, like a vision issue or something), that’s separate – but IG-SRT in and of itself imposes no driving limitation. This means you don’t have to arrange a friend or family member to bring you (unlike some surgical procedures). Feel free to drive to your appointments and onward to wherever you need to go next.
