Yes, in general you can continue exercising and staying active during your IG-SRT treatments. There is no internal effect on your muscles or energy levels that would limit exercise, and since you have no surgical wound, you’re not at risk of “pulling stitches” or anything like that. Many patients keep up with their normal exercise routines – whether that’s walking, jogging, gym workouts, yoga, golf, etc. In fact, maintaining your healthy lifestyle is encouraged. A couple of caveats: if your skin becomes very irritated in the treatment area, you’ll want to avoid activities that cause excessive rubbing, sweating, or pressure on that exact spot until it heals. For example, if we’re treating your lower leg and you do long-distance running, the friction of a sock might irritate a raw area more; in such a case, you might temporarily switch to a gentler activity (like cycling or swimming) if needed. Or if we’re treating under your arm, maybe weightlifting that strains that area could be a bit uncomfortable toward the end of the course. But these are minor adjustments. There is no blanket restriction on exercise – you won’t harm anything by being active. Just listen to your body; if an activity causes soreness in the treated skin, use common sense and modify it. Most patients, however, find they can do everything as before. And because IG-SRT doesn’t sap your energy, you should feel up to exercising as usual. So keep up with your walking, gym, golf, etc., unless specifically advised otherwise for a unique reason. It’s good for your overall health and won’t interfere with your treatment.
