No – IG-SRT is a painless treatment. One of the most frequent questions we get is, “Will this radiation hurt or burn during treatment?” and the answer is that you will not feel pain during the session. There’s no cutting, no heat, and the radiation itself cannot be felt as it’s delivered. Patients typically feel nothing or sometimes a very mild warmth at most. There’s no need for any pain medication. In fact, because it’s so gentle, even numbing medicine isn’t needed. Over the course of many treatments, the skin can get a bit irritated (like a mild sunburn sensation or tenderness), but the treatment process itself is pain-free. Patients often remark that if they didn’t know something was happening, they wouldn’t have noticed anything – it’s that comfortable. So, you can be completely at ease: IG-SRT does not hurt during or immediately after each session.
