How long does each IG-SRT session take?

Each treatment visit is quite quick – typically around 15 minutes or less from start to finish. The majority of that time is spent on setup: checking you in, positioning you correctly, doing the ultrasound imaging and calibrating the machine. The radiation itself only takes a minute or two to deliver. For example, you might spend 5-10 minutes with the therapist doing the ultrasound and alignment, then perhaps 30 seconds to 2 minutes for the X-ray to run, and then you’re done. Many patients are surprised by how fast it is – you could conceivably do it on a work break. We often say it’s about as long as a regular doctor’s visit or even quicker. 15 minutes per session is a good estimate (and sometimes it can be even faster). We do recommend arriving a few minutes early for each appointment to stay on schedule, but you won’t be in the office for long.
