- No surgery or incisions: IG-SRT involves no cutting, so there’s no bleeding, no stitches, and no surgical scar to worry about. You avoid the need for reconstructive procedures that sometimes follow Mohs surgery on areas like the nose or ears.
- Painless treatment: It’s generally painless, so no anesthesia injections are needed. You won’t experience the discomfort associated with injections or surgery.
- Minimal risk of infection or complications: Without an open wound, the infection risk is very low, and there’s no risk of surgical complications like bleeding or nerve damage from excising tissue.
- Cosmetically gentle: The cosmetic results are excellent – healthy skin is left to regrow, usually resulting in little to no visible trace of the cancer after healing (no suture line). For those who prioritize appearance, this is a big plus.
- Little to no downtime: You don’t have to stop your normal routine – no recovery period is needed after treatments. Patients can work and carry on with daily life throughout the treatment course.
- Ability to treat multiple lesions at once: With IG-SRT, if you have more than one skin cancer, we can treat several simultaneously (up to 2–3 in a session), which isn’t feasible with Mohs (surgeons generally address one lesion at a time).
- No hospital or surgical center visit: It’s done in an outpatient clinic, avoiding the hospital setting. This can be more convenient and comfortable for many.
