Immediately after a treatment session, you will likely notice very minimal changes. The treated area might be a little pink or slightly warm to the touch – some patients say it feels like a mild sunburn for an hour or two, but others feel nothing unusual at all. There’s no bleeding or open wound, so you won’t need any bandage. Usually, the therapist or doctor will apply a bit of ointment (like Aquaphor or a prescribed cream) to the area right after the session and that’s it. You are free to go about your day. You might want to gently clean off any remaining ultrasound gel when you get home (if the staff hasn’t already wiped it all off). The area will look roughly the same as it did before the session; IG-SRT doesn’t cause instant visible effects. Over the course of the treatment weeks, the redness may accumulate a bit, so after later sessions you’ll see the area is reddish and maybe slightly swollen – but again, that’s cumulative, not sudden. So after each individual session, expect very mild localized effects at most. You won’t feel sick or fatigued, so immediately after you can drive, return to work, or do whatever you planned. In short, after a session you’ll likely just continue on normally, perhaps with the area feeling a touch irritated as if it got a bit of sun. We often schedule patients to come in and then head right out to whatever they need to do next – it’s that easy. If you’re ever unsure, by all means wait a few minutes in our office to see if you feel okay, but virtually everyone does. So, immediate expectations: no downtime, no special post-treatment procedure – apply any recommended cream, protect from sun, and carry on.
