Category: IG-SRT

IG-SRT is a non-surgical treatment for certain skin cancers (especially basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) that uses low-energy X-rays to destroy cancer cells. It’s “image-guided” because it’s the only skin cancer therapy that incorporates ultrasound imaging to map out the exact size and depth of the cancer before treating. During IG-SRT, the dermatologist can see the tumor on an ultrasound screen, precisely target it with gentle X-ray energy, and kill the cancer cells without any cutting. The procedure involves no surgery – meaning no incisions, no bleeding, and typically no pain or scarring. IG-SRT is performed right in the dermatology office and offers a surgery-free cure for eligible skin cancers.
