Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) – including squamous cell carcinoma in situ – also sees about a 99% cure rate with IG-SRT. IG-SRT has proven very effective for SCC, which is important because SCC can sometimes be aggressive. Clinical results indicate that IG-SRT’s success in eradicating SCC is on par with its success in basal cell cases. For instance, the large studies that showed ~99% overall cure included many SCCs in that tally. Mohs surgery’s cure rate for SCC is often around 95–97%, so IG-SRT’s ~99% is actually slightly higher in the data. It’s worth noting that “cure rate” refers to the tumor not recurring in the treated area. With IG-SRT, once the prescribed course is done, the vast majority of SCCs are cured for good.
