IG-SRT treatments are administered by a team in the dermatology office. Typically, a board-certified Radiation Therapist operates the equipment and conducts the ultrasound imaging and treatment under the supervision of the dermatologist. The dermatologist (or a radiation oncologist consultant in some practices) will have created the treatment plan – determining how much radiation is needed and to what area – and they oversee the process. During each session, the radiation therapist will position the ultrasound probe and machine on your skin as per the plan, and the dermatologist may come in to double-check the ultrasound images and approve the settings before treatment is given. It’s a collaborative process, but you can rest assured that specialized professionals perform IG-SRT. It’s done in-office; no trip to a hospital radiation department is needed. Our team has the specific training to deliver this therapy safely and accurately.
